October 15, 2012

Here is the plan for October 15 and 18 IP practices. Repetition is important at this age as it develops a level of comfortableness.

1. Modified Butterfly Skate - players skate down wall, weaving in and out of pylons. Last pylon they cross cut around. Skate up the middle, pick up a puck and shoot in the net. Continue to the next wall, weave in and out of pylons, turn around and sprint down the wall.

2. Stations
a) t-push review.
b) Two foot glide - players skate hard, and get into the ready position. Have players then practice going from ready position to standing up, back to ready, to standing, etc.
c) Fun Time - using balls or pucks - players will kick using both feet and pick up pucks with left, right and both hands. Continue to call out what one to use.
d) One foot glide - players will push off the boards and pick one foot up and glide on other. Change feet. Have foot on one skate. Have knee bent in front of waist, switch legs.

3. Game Time
a) Red Light, Green Light (Stopping)
b) Scatter (must remove all pucks from team's half)
c) Cops and Robbers - circles are free zone, crease is jail. Prisoners are saved when a teammate tags him/her. Coaches are cops.
